How easy it is.
How easy it is, to lift your hands,
How easy it is, to raise His name
How easy it is, to be given so, so much
How easy it is, to praise
How easy it is, say “blessed be His name”
In times of prosperity
In times of despair?
How easy it is.

How easy is it to say,
What I have is not mine
It belongs to The Lord
How easy is it, to lift your hands
How easy is it, to open those hands
How easy is it, to look upon a crowd
Who have been given so much
Who haven’t had what was given
Taken away?
How easy is it, to recognize the ownership
What you have been given
Your Friends
Family?
How easy is it.

It’s not easy.
It’s not easy to raise my hands
It’s not easy to say, “blessed be His name”
It’s not easy to look upon a crowd
Who have not been challenged?
Who still have what they were given?
And can easily sing, “blessed be the name”
It’s not easy to stare down a calendar
And wonder, How long till?
It’s not easy to imagine a life without
It is easy to imagine a life with.
Not without.
It’s not easy,
Not one bit.

You're right Nate. It is much easier to say blessed be his name when everything looks good and is working out. You are going down a road with your family that is not easy, and it is not desirable. Certainly, if we are to say "blessed be the name of the Lord" only when things are good, we are basically saying that the Lord is good because my life is good. I am praying Nate that in this hard time, you will gladly say to the Lord "blessed be your name" because you know that the Lord is good regardless of our circumstances. And I think that it takes a situation like yours to be able to say that fully, truly and most deeply. It may be easier for those who are not walking down a road of suffering to say blessed be his name, but it is harder for them to mean what they say. It is harder for someone walking in suffering to say blessed be his name, but it is easier to say that meaningfully, and deeply. I think we both know which of these two responses pleases God the most.
See you soon brother.
