Thank you all for being such a great support for my family.

Just an update there is not really a huge change in Tiff's condition she is really fighting. I am praying that she gets through this and when she comes out she can have a new perspective and a new life.

My uncle Jack died through the night last night.

Thanks again for all your prayers

The Olympics!

So as my ever micro-managing mother has been zealous for me to get a ticket to an olympic event, she has kindly researched the topic for me. so there is a men's cross country skiing event for like $80. anyone interested? it's at like 1pm on sat. feb. 20th. do some form of communication to get back to me whether you are interested.

Tu hermano en Christo,

Benjamin Schmit

Where is the Justice?

Hey All,

I'm having a brainwave right now and I kind of want to get it out into the air. Put the words to paper to see if it all makes sense I guess. I just got back from the movie "Avatar" with my brother. It's a great movie, the animation is amazing and it was definitely a good movie to do some male bonding with Shawn.
Anyway, there's a part in the movie when the humans have destroyed a very sentimental place, the alien home. Now the aliens are going to gather and retaliate to protect their world (of course it's deeper than that but it's kind of hard to explain). The aliens have a real cause to fight for; there are oppressors threatening to extinguish their race and ultimately destroy their planet.
What really got me was the human's position on this retaliation that the aliens were putting on in reaction to the destruction of their home. The words of the human colonel (pronounced ker-nal) struck me the most, "We are going to fight for our survival."
I've been thinking a bit about justice lately (as we all should for the course we have in 8 days) and this part in the movie really struck me. These oppressors (humans) wanted to wipe out a peaceful people that when truly looked at, had a much deeper grasp of the world they were protecting. All of this ensued over a simple mining project, for dollars and cents. My question to that was, 'Where is the justice?" Were the humans really fighting for their survival? I don't think so, the aliens were surviving just fine. It was the humans idea of surviving that they fought for, they refused to see the other side of the table.
I guess my food for thought would be, what are we fighting for? What are our motives? Have we checked them recently? Where is the justice?

I hope this all makes sense, and I'd love to hear what some of you guys have to say on justice. I look forward to seeing you all in a week I'm definitely ready for round 2, or at least I will be as soon as I finish my Mission's homework.
Stay strong, keep thinking, and God Bless.
Love,
Nick

Please Pray

Hey all,
Thanks for all your prayers.
Um.. I have told some of you but my cousin Tiffany was put in the hospital, she hasnt had a good life up until now. Her mom died of a drug overdose 2 years ago and she has been doing drugs and really off track. However she has diabeties and because of it got really sick, her kidneys were starting to fail and because she wasnt taken care of she got really sick threw up in her mouth and the puke went down her wind pipe and coated her lungs so now she is unable to breathe on her own because the puke has acted as a leather covering over her lungs. More of her organs are starting to fail. She is 22 years old and hopefully a second chance is in the plan for her. If you all could pray for her that would be great.
As well on christmas eve my uncle jack was taken to the hospital but hes kind of a stubborn man, and is not being a very good pacient other than my great grandma hes the only other christian in my family and he and I have gotten very close over the past 2 years. So if you could pray for him as well.
Dispite all this, I am having a wonderful time at home and I have been very blessed it was a really nice Christmas for me. There is no need to feel bad for me, I have been having a lovely time but if you could pray for those members of my family and my family that would be wonderful. I love you guyss lots.

From Me and Mine to You and Yours!

Merry Christmas! We just wrapped up a nice family Christmas dinner, with way too much wonderful food (between Sarah and Danny's busy cooking and baking), and with the house very quiet now I realized again that I miss all of you and look forward to seeing you back in our home! May the rest of your Christmas break be filled with the presence of Jesus, who came to be God with us.

Happy Holidays!

I am trying to smile here..... -> oh the joys of wisdom teeth....

Prayers have been answered!! thank you so much!

So a little update about the church I went to on sunday The Church is called Peoples Church
http://www.peopleslambton.com/
A Very welcoming place! full of life. My sister and I went there while my mom and dad went to my old church. and we talked to one of the pastors for about an hour after the service. and wants to meet with the two of us again and my dad.... my father is a talker so I pray that he... hmmm learns to hold his tongue..... it's hard for him to listen. but ya, I'll be going back next sunday with my mom, since My sister has to work. I thank the Lord so much for sharing this place with me.

Prayer request: WOW!! I'm watching way to much T.V, not trying to justify it since I did just get my wisdom teeth out and there's really nothing else to do, there's so much garbage on that tube!.... any ideas?

And could you all give me things to pray about. I never got Kristies list... or there's something that you wanted to add... just let me know on this or over a facebook message.. :)

How Come Everyone Is Working Today?

Okay, some clarification on the What is Missions assignment: The questions to be answered are NOT the ones at the end of the chapters, but the handout we gave you. You can download the handout by clicking here. I hope you are also enjoying family and friends and snow and cold and cookies today! Sarah and I are at my parents' place in Kelowna, where there is snow, and we saw Bria the other day at her aunt and uncle's place. Don't work too hard!!

So confused!

HEY!
I now have a question about What is Mission? homework. Do we have to do the questions after the chapters? Please say we don't! haha =D

study sheets for what is mission?

heeeey! :)
i hope everyone is having a wonderful christmas holiday; you are all in my prayers!
...i was just looking at the syllabus for Theology of Mission which says:
"You are to read the required chapters of the textbook What is mission? by Andrew Kirk before the week of classes. The professor will provide you with study sheets for these chapters one month ahead, and you should complete this work before the first day of class"
and i was wondering if anyone got those study sheets or knows what we are supposed to do for this assignment?!
thanks,
jenna.

I have the worst luck with travel.

Hello everyone. Hope you are finding home to be wonderful. So far my time away from Kaleo has been a gong show. haha I rode on a bus with the New Life youth group to Vancouver for the Toby Mac and Relient K, Winter Wonder Slam tour. We shopped in Langley for the afternoon then went to the concert. The concert was... amazing (to say the least) I most definitely enjoyed myself. But even more exciting then the music, I ran into Lauren Villines, Ben Schmit, Matthew Newton, John Lansink, Phil Stibbs, and Britnee and Alex (from junior high camp). THEN I got to meet an artist known as "B Reith". One word... GORGEOUS! haha, by far, one of the most good looking people I have ever met. Like seriously, God was in a good mood when he made him! HAHA. Jokes, but yeah, beautiful. Then we stayed in a church in who knows where (we were driving at night, the windows were fogged, it was a long drive, I was half asleep). This morning we woke up bright and early and went shopping in Richmond, ate at the Old Spaghetti Factory, then picked up one of the guys from a soccer game. Now it was time to head to the airport. They were going to drop me off at 3:30 then drive to the ferry terminal. But a cop pulled us over because we were leaking gas, and when we opened the motor to see what was wrong the entire bus filled with exhaust. So we all got off the bus, then took all our stuff off the bus. And with the cops help flagged down 5 hotel shuttles which took all 47 people to the airport. Then they rented limos to take everyone to the ferry where someone is bringing a bus to pick them up on the other side. So I got here earlier then expected and found out my plan leaves at 6:30. haha What a gong show. But so much fun. And basically I had an amazing last week as an Islander, and my ENTIRE youth group came to the airport to say goodbye to me. haha So now as I sit in the Van airport and write this to you all, I hope you are loving on your families and getting as excited as I am for Christmas!

Love you all,
Bria (K7)

P.S. It snowed in Duncan today! AND They have lots of snow where I'm going! YAY!

While you were gone

While pretty much all of you guys were at the youth workers convention in Vancouver Marissa (Mom) Nate, John, Josh, Bo, Tim, Nicole, Kaitlyn (till Saturday morning) and I were given the enormous task of looking after the camp. So Saturday night we left the camp and went to Jim's to make Crepes, play Mario cart, and sleepover. Everyone went to Duncan to get food while Josh and I stayed behind and had some fun. Made some videos and noticed that the stairs are really slippery with a blanket under your bum.....
I wish I knew how to put these all together and edit.....
enjoy.

Cold Water Classic Surf Comp Update

Just an update on the surf comp we watched last week. Though 144 pro surfers from all over the world competed, it was a local Tofino guy, Peter Devries, who won. Pretty cool, eh?

The guy talking in the beginning of the video is also a local , but he is the one we watched that morning who got edged out by two others.

God’s Will for Kaleo 7

We, the students of Kaleo 7, believe that this is God’s will for us this year:

That we would all mature together in Christ and have a huge impact wherever God takes us.

That friends and family would be encouraged and ministered through what God is doing in Kaleo.

That we would receive healing from broken pasts.

That we would grow and become spiritually mature.

For us to declare our sins to God, and find new habits of living for Him, instead of our sins.

For us to all get along , build each other up so we can grow together like family.

To always be listening to his voice.

To develop confidence in what we have to offer, as Christians.

A sense of group identity, rather than a group of individual relationships.

A greater, stronger, more sincere love for everyone.

Come alongside (parakletos) and carry each other’s burdens, help each other out.

Keep up with disciplines (media fast).

To be a group that encourages each other, and one where we can go to anyone in the group and talk to them.

Be a community that serves Him.

Learn to love. Learn to receive love.

“We were made to be lovers bold in broken places, pouring ourselves out again and again until we’re called home.”

That this can be a huge year for healing; you can't grow until the holes in your heart are filled.

Understanding God's love for us, and how deep it really is.

Understanding God's acceptance of us, that he loves us no matter what.

That we can not necessarily learn specific things about knowing God more, but more that we can learn the tools that we will need for the future.

That we would be able to live in the present, as a community that is selfless and inclusive.

Discover what it means to Love and what Love looks like.

To be shaped and prepared to do his service this year at the Olympics. In the one spot where the focus of the entire world will be, we have been strategically placed here to be lights where there is real darkness.

For Kaleo 7 to produce Godly Men who stand up for truth.

We are called to a significant difference in our churches and community.

To learn what community is, and to experience that.

Value every person and their story.

“If one part suffers, every part suffers.”

Take great care with our words, our jokes, our speech and our thoughts.

Above all else, to show love.

Our major assignment for Hermeneutics

Hermeneutics Major Paper

Kaleo 2009

Choose one of the following texts and write a 5-6 page (double spaced) paper according

to the instructions in each section. Do not go over this length (or much under).

Romans 8:37-39

Hebrews 12:1-3

Ephesians 4:20-24

Galatians 2:19-21

A. Picture/Painting - Write 1-2 pages (paragraph form) with your observations from the

text. Make as many significant observations as possible - tell me what you “see”. What

are the details, what is the big picture, what can you know about the author and his

perspective and what can you know about the reader etc? Make sure you make your

observations in the larger context of the chapter and book as appropriate. This section is

the key to doing well on this paper.

B. Window - What are the important issues or question that this text raises for you?

Identify the three most important questions you have, and research each one showing the

fruit of your research (what did you learn from your questions). Consult at least five

library sources (web sources in addition to these five) - this is the primary research

section of the paper and should be approx. 2-3 pages long. If there is a difference of

opinion in your research concerning your questions be sure to note that.

C. Conclusion and interpretive challenges - From your study and research what is the

central question that needs to be answered to grasp the meaning of this text? Based on

your research what is the answer to this question. Based on your careful research where

might there be interpretive issues or challenges as to the central meaning of the text and

its application. To answer this you will need to have examined the text in the larger

context of the chapter and book. This section should be 1-2 pages.

D. Mirror - What is the central message of this text and what is the author’s intended

response for the readers (of his day)? Also share some personal insights and lessons

you’re learned from studying this text. Feel free to use first person in the last part of this

section

Important notes

• This paper represents more than 1/3 of the grade for the course and will be graded

accordingly. Work hard to understand the text; do careful research and apply your

learning in accordance with your research.

• Remember, presentation counts. This is an academic paper so make sure your

paper is typed, carefully written and proof read.

• You may use 1st person (I, my etc) only in section D.

• Make sure to credit all sources by use of footnotes. Also include a bibliography

for all sources used.

Thank you Girls!!!!!!

By the consensus of the guys, I would just like to put out a huge thank you to the wonderful girls in Kaleo. You girls cleaned our room while we were gone and it is so tremendously appreciated. I hope there was nothing worse than an "Exhibit A" to be found. And may I just add...

1Tim. 6:11,12-But flee from these things, you women of God, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance and gentleness. Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.

Again Thank You.

36 days till school

A new wave of excitment for school just hit me. looking forward to Vancouver.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009

43 days till school.

In all my life I never thought I would be counting down the days till school starts. Usually I would be praying that for some reason school was cancelled this year, or atleast post boned another week. But this year should be different, I'm very excited. This summer is flying by I'm stressing to get everything done. I've officially started packing and trying to decide what needs to go where. But in the midst of all the anxiety and excitement I recieved a facebook message that brought my whole world to a screeching halt. My best friend since the day he was born, John, has had chrones disease since our grade 7 year. He has been in and out of hospitals, multiple surgeries, and was finally doing really well. He was back in school for all but like a month last year and was out and about like he wasn't sick at all. But he had to go in for emergency surgery on Monday. They had to do a reconstructive surgery on his intestines. On Sunday he was moved from ICU to Pediatrics, and he had stopped vomiting, but he still has alot of recovering to do. Through all of this he has lost almost all of his faith in God, most of his friends, and alot of his childhood. If you guys could all please pray for him and that he can keep his spirits up and not lose hope.

unforgettable summer

So i guess were half way through the summer and things are starting to become a
reality for myself and i`m going to share how my summer has been looking so far....

Since december i have been working part time at a feedlot and since the start of summer it has been officially my full time dealio, for myself and with it being my first job and all it was the start of a very bleak looking summer, even though i was working with my best friend it was very difficult for me to transition into having a lot of down time to not so much down time. but now that were little over half way through and time has seemingly blown by the last half isnt looking so bleak haha. but just two weeks ago my youngest sister was diagnosed with a brain tumor located in the back of her head, 2 days after her 16th birthday. but by the never ending grace of Jesus christ just 5 days after her diagnosis she miraculously got the surgical time she needed which would normally have taken up to a month. currently she is recovering extremely well. even though her summer plans for volunteering at Southern Alberta Bible Camp have been foiled her illness has done much more for the camp than she her self could have personally done. the staff at SABC have been brought to a level of fellowship that has not ever been seen before. Even though she is doing well, it would be much appreciated to keep her in your thoughts, her name is Kaitlin. i am super excited for this up coming year and am constantly blown away about the ways God brings things together with nonpareil timing. The other day i was doing some biking and got some sweet photos, this is what i like to do to keep chill in stressful situations

There's power in prayer.

Hey everyone,

So I was just wondering if you would all please pray for me right now. I got diagnosed with Strep Throat this afternoon. So, not only does that suck... but I am also getting my wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday. So I need to maraculously recover in the next day and a bit.

Back in the country.

Yes, our Haiti missions group is back in Canada, tired, worked, stretched, and excited to live for Christ in a changed way. I thank all of you who prayed for myself and the group. Many prayers were answered, many miracles were experienced, and hopefully many lives were touched by God by the love he gave us to pour out to them. I am stoked to tell you all about it only two months from now. For the time being, here are a couple pictures.

Mission: Haiti

Myself and 26 other youth and leaders will be departing towards Haiti at a lovely hour of 3 am on July 3rd. As the country with the highest poverty in the western hemisphere and almost entirely engulfed in voodoo, simply speaking, prayer is needed for myself and the group.

As one of the older youth in the group I have a greater responsibility upon me. And thus I ask of prayer for:

An awareness of situations around me, both during travel and in Haiti

Wisdom and discernment when problems arise

A broken heart for the people we meet and witness to

An encouraging spirit for the mission organization we are staying with

Safety during travel(plane, bus ride-8 to 14 hour ride dependent on river levels, ya!) and the beginning of Hurricane season

Health-malaria, heat stroke, sunburn, dengue fever

To see the world as God does, none of us have been to a 3rd world country

And, upon returning, we not be so incredibly cynical towards developed countries that we lose sight of what God has given us

Thanks fellows

And some people don't believe in Miracles...

So today I was having "the worst" day of my life. Everything was going horribly wrong. It got to the point where, after spilling an entire bucket of strawberries on the floor I sat down in the middle of booster juice, shed a tear, and literally gave up. (I know, this sounds so over-dramatic... but it was actually quite horrible.) After Noah (co-worker) calming me down and me taking my break I was starting to feel a little better, but still just ready to start the long walk home. Then I get a text message from my Mother saying to call her on my break. So I replied asking what the conversation was going to be about. She said "school." -side note, every conversation we have had about "school" has contained such things as "you need to think realisticly", "you need to choose a real school", and "I'm not helping you, but go ahead and try." So of course, I was not looking forward to talking to her. So I called her on my second break and she starts off with "So, Dad and I know that you really want this... and it is really expensive you you can't realisticly afford it. And we talked about it and there is absolutely no way you are getting a student loan! But we have decided that we want you to do it! So you can use the RSP money!" ...!!!!!!! So yes, A true miracle has occured in the world today! My mother, is actually enabling me to attend Kaleo 7! I AM SO REDICULOUSLY STOKED!!!!

So, I am officially VERY excited to meet you all... sorry that that story was kinda long.

Greetings and Salutations; to borrow the colloquialism.

Hey guys, and gals,

The other day I was doing my devotions and for some reason I was feeling quite flustered, a combination of many thoughts and questions running through my mind. I was also frustrated that every time I would spend time alone to find God, I wouldn't find him much less hear from him. I would ask him many questions and seemingly get no response. Near the end of my devotions, I was reading a handout that I was given at church and in it the author described a situation much similar to mine that he had been through. As a solution God gave him the Bible verse Matthew 18:20 "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them." After reading this verse, I realized I was trying to live the Christian life without the utilizing the Body of Christ, Instead I would try and follow God all on my own. I also realized that have never really been spiritually connected with my church family. With Kaleo around the corner, this made me much more excited to meet you guys, to start connecting on a spiritual level and grow closer our Creator. Bring it on!!

Just thought I'd share my experience.

Some News/ Please Pray

So, I've been thinking, praying, and talking alot about this september and where I'm supposed to be. And well, I'm pretty sure that Kaleo is exactly where I'm supposed to be. So I finally worked up the guts to tell phone my mother and tell her of this thought streem. She was, of course, very un-impressed. So I am now trying everything possible to get me to Duncan. She is trying everything possible to keep me in Kelowna, or better yet get me home. So if you guys could all please pray that if this is what I'm supposed to do that it will all work out and that my mom can handle it all. I'm excited to meet you all none the less.

Helly Hansen Base Layer Sales

Of all the things that are on the "To Bring" List that we sent you, probably the most important and useful item is… underwear! More specifically, the specialized stuff that will keep you warm and dry in all conditions, which we call "base layer." It can be expensive, because it cannot be cotton and tends to be found only at specialty shops.

So, I was at a Helly Hansen warehouse sale the other day and picked a whole bunch of top-quality base layers at rock-bottom prices. "HH Lifa performance baselayers not only insulate next to the skin, but move heat-stealing moisture away from your body quicker, meaning you stay dry and comfortable in any condition."

Normally these sell for $40-60, but I was able to get them for $15. The first people to contact me can purchase these at the price I paid ($15 + tax = $16.80). This is what we have (sorry men, there was very little available for you this year), and you can click on the title to see them. I will delete them as they are sold:

Women's Longsleeve Shirts
  • Large - Indigo Blue
  • Medium - Indigo Blue
  • Medium – Aqua Blue
Women's Pants
  • Sorry! All gone!
Men's Longsleeve Shirts
  • X-Large - Mid Blue
  • Large - Orange
Men's Pants
  • Small - Red
Again, it's first to contact me, first to reserve the item you want, so when you contact me please give me a first, second and third choice. I'm setting a limit of one shirt plus one pants to start. I would appreciate receiving payment over the summer, as it's on my credit card, but if you need to wait until I give them to you upon arrival here, that's okay. I hope this is helpful to you! Can't wait for you to get here!

Wonderful Thailand

Hey Kaleos! I wanted to share a couple of photos from my adventure with you - what an adventure it was! Thank you for your prayers, God was so evidently with us, teaching us, helping us.
Can I encourage you to pray for these faces, and places?

This little man on the left is autistic, and his friend there, I think thinks he's a superhero. I got to play with these kids for a couple of hours while their parents were at church. The boy on the left, when I was showing him how to use my camera, took the most beautiful picture of the entire trip - just ask Jim Badke.

This is Ngaam, another girl from Sunday school. Her name translates to mean "beautiful", and well, isn't she?! She's a really special lady - if you met her, she'd probably give you a flower bud, it's kind of her thing.

These treasures live in a community of houses that were built for families whose homes were destroyed in the tsunami. After all that devastation, they still have the most profound sense of joy and love that I've ever seen.

These girls were in the tsunami aswell, but can't you just feel their joy?

An out the window shot on our travels, a little taste of driving through Phuket.
Blessings of hope in your hearts,
Laur

And then there was one more...

Hola! My Name is Kristie Voth and I am your Kaléo Student Life Leader. (I just got back from Cuba, hence the reason for the Spanish.) I am a full-time staff member here at Camp Qwanoes - during the year I work with Jim in the Kaléo program and in the summer I work with Jim in the CIT program.

I come from small-town Manitoba. After high school I moved west for school where I attended Prairie Bible College, and then I continued west where I’ve ended up here on Beautiful Vancouver Island. I love working at Qwanoes – it all began the summer of 2005 when I was the female CIT Counselor. And then, last August I came on staff full-time. I absolutely LOVE what I do - working with you; watching God transform your lives in the midst of doing life together is one of my greatest joys.

A little about me… I love just hanging out with my roomie, Tara, and our cat, Ninja. We spend our evenings singing (as I pound on the piano), reading interesting books (that have to be interesting for me to keep reading them), collaging, and journaling. I also love to run, snowboard and travel. I think I belong in Asia. I can’t seem to keep from going back. It all began in 2004 when I went to Tibet to teach English for a summer. Since then I’ve been to South Korea, Japan, Cambodia, and led the trip to India this past March. My hope is to go back to many of these places so that I can continue building those relationships. Next May I’m hoping to visit one of my best friends, who is a midwife in the Philippines.

My hope for all of you is that you willingly leave behind life as you know it to enter FULLY into the life God has for you, this coming year and beyond. I’m praying for you and can hardly wait for K7 to begin!

K7 Leadership Team All In Place

I have some more exciting news for you: we have selected the Kaleo Intern for the girls, rounding out the leadership team for this fall. She is Marissa Baerg, who was a Kaleo Three student.

Marissa's family lives in Mongolia where her parents work with kids, and though she has spent a fair bit of time there she spent this past year in Edmonton. Before that she did a Discipleship Training school with YWAM in Australia, and then was involved in ministry in Indonesia, South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland.

Marissa is super excited to come back to Kaleo and spend the year living with you, encouraging you and challenging you, as God is challenging her.

I'm going to Thailand...TODAY!!!

With eager anticipation, and preconcieved notions absolutely shattered, I am heading to Thailand today!!

I cannot wait to get there! I cannot wait to bless and be blessed by the people of Phuket!
Please would you join me in praying
...for complete dependence.
...that our team would be a fine example of the church loving one another; that we would be the aroma of Christ.
...that the praise of the Lord would continuously be on our lips.
...the light shine onto every person that we meet (including the person who takes our tickets, and who makes our beds in the hotel.)
...an abundance of blessings on the people of Phuket; the cell groups and work camps, the orphans, the churches, the visit with the SHE program (helping young ladies in the sex trade.)

If any of you might be interested, there's a blog that we'll be updating while we're there:

So much grace and peace to you!

A Guy You Will Want To Get To Know

I am very happy to present to you our Kaleo Intern for the guys this year, Justin Lenny.

Justin was a Kaleo student in 2006/07 (also known as Kaleo Four), and is currently finishing up his third year at Briercrest College, where he was an RA in the dorm this year. He comes from Orangeville, Ontario, which is hometown for a couple of you (where did that town get its name??). Justin amazes me with his huge sense of adventure, whether it is climbing a tree, running up walls or following Jesus. You will love his ability to listen to you with his full attention, and to speak truth into your life that you don't want to hear but need to. Justin is a great addition to our Kaleo leadership team this year, and we are so glad to have him!

We are still working on who will be the Intern for the girls, and will let you know soon.

Praise God

So for this summer I applied for the assistant cook position at a camp called Wilderness, it is part of Ness Lake Bible Camp in Prince George, BC. I was really worried because I applied late and there were like 5 other applicants and they had trouble receiving my application. But I got an e-mailed form letter from the top dog at Ness Lake today saying that I am accepted and I start June 8th! :D

Blurry vision...

With the situation that was put before me I was blessed to say I got a little glimpse of what Kaleo's going to be like. As I was thinking about a word that would sum up I thought of "Blurry vision". I know it's 2 words, but if I just said blurry it wouldn't really make sense.

This past week was the final Kaleo week. It was filled with lots of laughter, but also a lot of tears. Tears of joy as they remembered the good times, and tears of sadness as they will be leaving their new family. As I watched the ceremony and listened to all to good times they had I couldn't get over the fact that they kept saying "I can't believe its already thanksgiving" "I can't believe it's Christmas" "I can't believe its time for our missions trip" "I can't believe its over "...

As the ceremony went on I got a reminder once again on how fast time really goes. It wont be long before we're all gathered on the grass out front of club coco, meeting one another for the first time and trying to remember the names of everyone. So if you're kinda like me and can hardly wait to start Kaleo, just stop and remember to smell the roses. Because it wont be long before we're saying are goodbyes or as I like to call them "see you later's" because there's never goodbyes if you don't want them to be.

So I guess to sum up would be this. Live in the moment, life will pass you by if you let it.

And for all you K6'ers reading this...I love you all and I miss you...see you later,

Nick's post reminded me.

So, Nick had mentioned that you could contact him on Skype. This is actually a really good idea and an easy way to talk. So if you don't already have skype I recomend you get it. I think atleast most of k6 uses it. It's quite nice to have some days. Just a thought. Feel free to contact me on Skype, I'd love to chat. (My skype name is BriaLinnae)
Ciao for now,
Bria
YEAAAAAAAAAHHHH KALEO!!
Well there goes my blog virginity...
Anyway now that I've let that out of my system I would like to introduce myself as the 8th wonder of the world, or the guy with the second coolest name in the universe (The first would be Bob Drinkwater), Nick VanSnick. It is a pleasure and privilege to be able to serve and spend time with you all this coming year at K7. I definitely can't wait to get outside, I feel very cramped here at the University of New Brunswick having to study and take classes with very little outside time.
So a little about me but I'll try not to be like the guy who went on his first and last date, "Now that's enough about me talking about me, let's give you a chance to talk about me." :P
Right now I'm at UNB studying Civil Engineering, this is my first year out of highschool and I have come to a realization that I love Jesus too much and have a different set of skills that would more benefit the kingdom if put to use in ministry. That's where Kaleo comes in. I'm hoping to find a new direction and a clearer focus of where God wants to send me next, thought I'd take it one year at a time and start with this amazing one year program.
Since I'm having difficulties having my brain thing connect to those limby things... Fingers! That's it... I think I'll leave it at this for now, can't wait to chat with you guys, I'm on facebook and skype if you ever have the courage to add someone crazy like me.

Your Brother in Christ
Nick VanSnick

The Aaron Quiz...

1 What is the #1 reason for taking Kaleo? It is an amazing environment for learning and growing in your relationship with God.
2 How bout your #2 reason now :P? Honestly, a year of learning made fun sound a whole heck of alot better then a year spent only in the classroom. JimBad you are a genius.

5 Are you currently dating someone? Nope, I am currently in the "Single" Category.
6 Do you hope to find a special "friendship" at Kaleo? Whoa whoa whoa... Is that not the whole point of Kaleo... I mean, it is through Bridalquest is it not? Haha, jokes. No, I think if anyone would spend that much money just to find a "special friend" they are nuts. I just want to meet some wicked sweet people and go on crazy adventures!
7 What kind of outdoor activity do you like most ex: hiking? Quite funny, I love climbing. Like trees, rocks, hills, etc... but I am intensely scared of heights. So I'd have to go for biking or running.
8 Where in this world do you hail from? Well, I was born and raised in Prince George, BC... but I currently am living in Kelowna, BC.
9 How many Km will you be from home to be at Kaleo? 850 from PG, 450 from Kelowna
10 Do you care to share/hear your/my testimony? I would love to hear all of your testimonies. Um... I usually don't like sharing mine so much, just warning you.

Life experience.

3. Are you coming to Kaleo strait out of high school?

Nope I am not. I am a picky girl. I like to be selective :).

Uhhhh... I assume this means someone I want to date? No I don't hope to find a "special friend". If I do, well I do and that was how it was meant to happen. 7. What kind of outdoor activity do you like the most ex: Hiking?

10. Do you care to share/hear your/my testimony? If so I will chalk you in.
So I was bored one night and just looking trough the k6 blog and came across this little survey that one of the guys made. I thought that it was a good idea and seeing how there's not a lot of blogging happening maybe this will get the ball moving fast, or just more often,

Alright everyone here is a fun little survey to do with Kaleo and all of us going.

U2?

Ya, U2 is coming to Vancouver, October 28th. I'm stoked and want to go really bad, this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity and I'd like to see them before the die. Anyway, it would be far better of a time if any of you were interested as well and came with me. Their pre-sale is on Monday(April 6th) and I could for sure buy 4 tickets($160ish, you can reimburse me at school). If anyone would like to join me then please reply soon. I have talked to Jim and he says it shouldn't be a problem but just so you know, there is a chance we would miss a little bit of class. Transportation is taken care of. Please pray about it.

This just in

Heya K-sev!
Well, it's been a bit too long since I've posted on this baby, so I thought I'd hook you an update.
First of all, I hope you kids are into tree-climbing, because I thoroughly enjoy it. Expect many barefoot, and tree climbing escapades this year.
Well, I haven't yet told you, but I have huge news!! In just over a month I will be in Thailand!! I'm going to be there for a solid three weeks, mainly loving and teaching girls who are trapped in the sex trade. I'm so excited!!! Which, at a second glance is kind of a weird thing to say.. but I am so excited for the victories Christ will show to us while during the trip.
-Please pray for the Lord's perfect provision. I'm running behind in my payments, and it can be incredibly stressful, especially when I don't have a steady income.
So, my going away right in the middle of now and summer makes it a teensy bit hard to save up for Kaleo. It's hard to get a job when your about to leave for three weeks. (Not to mention, leave for the summer shortly after).
I'm in quite a struggle to discover where Christ would have me this year. I'm really not good with decisions. A part of me wants so badly to be a part of the already developing K-fam, and a part of me, to be honest, is absolutely terrified. That fear makes it easy to not want to go sometimes..do you know what I mean?
With a mix of excitement, and frusterated sighs I thought it would be good to write to you all about this. Please pray for clarity, for desires that reflect the heart of Christ, and for discipline in the things I need to be getting done.
I'm sorry I haven't commented on your beautiful intro-posts yet, you should know that I think you all look incredible! Thank you for sharing with us!
OH!
This just in: the other night, upon wondering what we should do after family dinner, Jim Badke looked across the table at me and said
"I want to watch High School Musical."

No lie.
Grace and peace with you.

The Latest Prayer Request.

Hello everyone reading the K7 blog. I am just asking if everyone could please pray for guidance for me. I am starting to fairly strongly feel like this is not what I'm supposed to be doing. But I am trying to decifer between my fear of money, and what God is actually telling me. I just got a reminder e-mail about the first thousand dollars being due as soon as possible in order to secure my place in the program and my mother has called me almost every night this week to talk about money issues. Basicly I am just stressing out like no other, and it is actually getting to the point where I am reaching exhaustion. So if everyone could pray, and tell my what God is telling them, and hopefully I can hear clearly what God is telling me. Thanks alot. Blessings,
Bria

Don't really like Golf, but thought that it was a cool photo

Howdy,

My name is Bob Drinkwater. I know what some of you are thinking. Is this for real? Is his name really Bob Drinkwater or is this just a joke? It is true. It's my real name. And now the second question that I always get...do you drink a lot of water? And yes, yes I do. A little bit about me now. I graduated early in February and am currently working on my Carpentry apprenticeship. I'm going to be working at camp Qwanoes this summer as a counselor and its going to be good times. If you don't know what you're doing this summer, working at camp is good fun. I lived in Kelowna, B.C for the past 3 years, and Victoria before that. But am at camp right now helping with the building projects. I don't really know what do say on here except for "Howdy and How's it going?". I've lived without Internet while I lived in Kelowna because I lived on a wheat farm. For some of you that know Kelowna and are like "Wheat farm? Where?" I will tell you. It's just past the dump on Glenmore. Yeah, I lived next to a dump, literally. But it was ok, I didn't smell it because it was far enough away. So yeah, good times are a coming in the fall, or summer if you come to camp.

P.s Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I got accepted about a week ago. (That would be March 17th for those reading this at a later time.)

P.s.s Feel free to add me to Facebook. The name is Awesome Bob...Just kiddin. Its Bob Drinkwater. Thats an awesome enough name, So my Mom tells me anyways.
